This circular celebration of pearls and diamonds was created in the Edwardian period (1901 -1910). The platinum tubes that cradle 0.88 total carat weight of pear and single-cut diamonds tested as platinum, but are not stamped, which was not uncommon for the time period. Tested as well, but not stamped, is the 14 karat yellow gold upon which the 4.2mm to 7.2mm button pearls are set, and the hinge and rod of the pin. The only metal that is stamped is the 10 karat clasp. It was probably replaced sometime during the adventures of its hundred-year life-span. The brooch measures 1-2/8 inches across.
