This striking depiction of a woman in silver, gold, Camphor glass, and gemstones by world renown jewelry artist Erté, is part of his Fireflies series.

Erté, was born Romain de Tirtoff (1892–1990) in St. Petersburg, Russia, to an aristocratic family. He moved to Paris in 1912 and worked in fashion until he secured a job as the cover artist for Harper’s Bazaar. He was a prolific designer not only in graphic design, but in fashion, theater sets, and costume design, hence he became one of the most famous artists of the era. His combination of nature-inspired flourishes and bold geometric shapes contributed to the birth of the Art Deco period, earning him the nickname “Father of Art Deco.”
